Making Lemonade
🍋With all the lemons 2020 served up this year, how did you make lemonade?
I don't have to recap the shitshow -- You were there.
The thing is, damn near everything was out of our collective control.
What HAS been (and always will be) within our control is the way we choose to react and course correct.
All around me, I saw people pivoting. Getting scrappy. Upping the creativity. Saying "Yup, this effing sucks" but doing what they could to make it work.
🙌🏾 Makers embraced online sales opportunities after event cancellations and boutique closures
🙌🏾 Musicians, DJs, and vocalists streamed their much-appreciated artistry live for contributions
🙌🏾 Coaches and consultants (like yours truly) focused on virtual services to continue serving clients navigating unprecedented shifts in their businesses
Now I won't make light of the harrowing fact that thousands of small businesses closed this year, and thousands more are on the brink of that fate. It's terrifying and disheartening. These closures were absolutely *not* caused by lack of hustle or work ethic.
🍋My point is, this year has been rough. But whatever you had to do to make it, is valid.
[Disclaimer: I am NOT asking you to dabble in Toxic Positivity. There's a distinct difference between pivoting in faith and not allowing yourself to feel the feelings. More on that topic next week.]
Share how you navigated a big road block, even if it was a hell of a ride. Give yourself a moment to recognize the efforts you put in this year to make it through to this point. 🍋
