Scale Your Creative Brand was born from my desire to help fellow mission-driven creatives grow their businesses with authenticity, courage, and moxie.
Working in the arts + small business community for over 21 years has given me the privilege of being surrounded by incredible talent across all mediums -- And led to the frustrating realization that there is often a discrepancy between the creation of great work and the ability to effectively run a business to sustain it. You do not have to choose one or the other.
The good news?
Just like skills can be practiced to evolve your talents, all the unsexy other stuff
(the marketing, the systems, the financials, all of it)
can be improved upon with a little time, focused strategy, and accountability.
I've worked the night shift to make my daydreams a reality - Spending years sewing, emailing + Photoshopping to build my fledgling children's apparel business while moonlighting as a bartender to make sure the bills were paid. Going full-time with my business was a leap of faith backed by careful preparation.
Even this scrappy hustler knew her limits. When I felt overwhelmed and in need of guidance beyond what I had within arms reach, it was clearly time to invest in myself. I have worked directly with several mentors, from a savvy retired manufacturer to a bustling boutique owner to a high-level marketing + mindset expert. Each experience pushed me to diligently improve towards my goals at the time.
Leveling up was the most trying adventure of my entrepreneurial life. Competing against dozens of other businesses, I won a county-wide grant to open a retail store and creative studio. Throughout the competition and subsequent launch + operation of the store, I drew upon and greatly expanded my experience with marketing, crowdfunding, employee hiring + management, and working with wholesale + consignment artists. You might say this gal really learned how to wear a shit-ton of hats.
Now it's time I give back. As you gear up for your next big step in entrepreneurship, I see you and have likely shared in your frustrations. As your mentor and strategic partner, I will be personally invested in guiding you confidently towards the vision you've set - And will lovingly kick your ass when you need it most.
Outside of my professional life, I'm a dedicated, fiercely-loving mama of two curious, inspiring girls, person to giant pups Marla + Ethel, and partner to the tattooed, bearded guy who inspires, challenges, and uplifts me - No matter what grand business idea I come up with next. Currently living in Sacramento, California with roots on Maui.
