Thank You, 2020.

Thank you, 2020.

[WAIT, WHAT? 🤨 Is she on drugs?]

Hear me out.

Thank you, 2020, for showing me the value of the everyday, when I used to be too focused on tomorrow’s tomorrow.

This was the year I:

🥂Committed to a weekly therapy regimen to work on healing my traumas and building positive tools to lessen my anxiety

🥂Got to know my daughters as individuals and acknowledged that a never-ending mess is well worth cultivating their creativity, curiosity, and independence

🥂Invested authentic energy in this brand, releasing what I originally thought my limits were and finally trusting my experience and voice

🥂Refocused on two equally vital elements of marriage with my spouse: Open communication and PLAY!

🥂Challenged my beliefs and education in regards to social justice, racial inequity, and sexual identity, and backed it up with contributions of my time, talents, and funds

🥂Allowed myself to simply be a humble work in progress

2020. When I spent more time in yoga pants than actual vinyasa practice. But my 4 year old encouraged me to put on my “special occasion” dresses just because.

“Ooh, how about this pretty one Mama?”

I think about that a lot and how my kids see to potential in every day to be a special occasion if we give it that energy.

So thank you, 2020. For all the public health insanity, economic insecurity, political uncertainty, civil rights disparity you brought to light, for all the panic attacks I breathed myself down from... this year has provided the space to put necessary energy into recognizing and nurturing the beauty within each day.

Cheers, all. Wishing you a safe, positive New Year celebration 🥂
